Our Commitment to Your Safety

At Neer, we're dedicated to creating a safe, respectful environment for all users. We've built comprehensive safety features and policies to protect our community.

Privacy Protection

Approximate Proximity Only: Your exact GPS location is never shared with other users. Coordinates are rounded to roughly 100 meters (about 330 feet) of precision before being stored or used to compute distance.
Foreground Only: Location is collected only while the app is open. Neer never tracks you in the background and never requests the "Always" iOS location permission.
Two Independent Visibility Toggles: "Show on Map" places a live pin at your current location for nearby users while the app is open and is OFF by default after every sign-in. "Show in Discovery" controls whether your profile appears in other users' nearby lists and search results.
Full Hide: Turn both toggles off to disappear from the map, the nearby list, and search entirely. You can re-enable them at any time.
Privacy Settings: Control who can see you, message you, and connect with you through additional privacy controls.

Data Security

Encrypted Communications: Messages and data are protected with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
Secure Authentication: Phone number verification and secure authentication powered by Firebase Authentication.
No Data Selling: We never sell your personal information to third parties.

User Safety Features

Blocking & Reporting

Block Users: Instantly block any user. Blocked users cannot see your profile, send messages, or view you in discovery.
Report System: Report inappropriate behavior, spam, harassment, or safety concerns through detailed in-app report categories.
Active Moderation: Our moderation team promptly reviews all reports and takes appropriate action.

Connection Control

Message Requests: No one can message you without an accepted connection, unless you choose "Anyone" in your privacy settings.
Unfriend Anytime: Remove connections instantly if you feel uncomfortable or want to discontinue communication.
Message Settings: Silence notifications, delete messages, or restrict who can message you.

Community Guidelines

We expect all users to follow our Community Guidelines. Prohibited behaviors include:

Harassment, bullying, or threatening language
Hate speech, discrimination, or offensive content
Spam, scams, or fraudulent activity
Sexual harassment or unwanted advances
Sharing inappropriate content or explicit material
Impersonation or misleading information

Verification & Trust

Phone Verification: All users must verify their phone number during signup for account security.
Profile Authenticity: We encourage genuine profiles and actively monitor for suspicious activity.

Account Security

Secure Authentication: Your account is protected with Firebase Authentication security.

Minors & Age Restrictions

Neer is intended for users 18 years and older. During account creation, users must confirm they meet the minimum age requirement. We take violations of age restrictions seriously and will terminate accounts found to be underage.

If you need help, feel threatened, or want to report a safety concern:

Report In-App: Use the report function directly from any profile that violates our Community Guidelines.
Contact Support: Email us at support@neersocial.com
Emergency Situations: If you're in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement immediately.

Our Moderation Team

Our dedicated moderation team reviews reports and takes appropriate action, including warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans for violations. Serious safety threats should be reported to law enforcement immediately.
