Privacy & Safety

Review guidelines for staying safe during your connections and protecting your privacy.

How is my data protected?
We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest. Your personal information is never shared with third parties without your consent, and you control what information appears on your profile.
Can I block or report someone?
Yes. You can report profiles, individual messages (including photos, videos, and voice messages), events, and stories. To report a profile: open it, tap the three-dot menu, and select "Report User." To report a message: press and hold it and tap "Report." To report an event: tap the report flag on the event page. To report a story: tap the flag icon at the top right of the story. Our team reviews all reports within a few business days. You can block users from their profile at any time. Blocked users can be managed in Settings > Blocked Users.
How do I control my visibility?
Use the "Show in Discovery" toggle in Settings > Location. It controls whether your profile appears in the Discovery List, Discovery Grid, and search. Turn it off to disappear from the Discovery List, Discovery Grid, and search entirely, and turn it back on whenever you want to be seen again.
What information is visible to others?
Other users can see your name, bio, interests, and location (if enabled), along with any features you choose to show on your profile. Your exact location is never shared—only an approximate distance (e.g., '3 miles away'). Your phone number and email always remain private.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account Management → Delete Account and confirm your identity with your password and a one-time SMS code sent to your phone number. Your account is deactivated immediately and hidden from everyone. You then have a 30-day grace period. If you change your mind, just log back in to reactivate it. After 30 days, your account and all associated data (including your last-known location) are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. A limited set of billing/transaction records may be retained where required by law for tax compliance. For community safety, Neer Social also keeps a small post-deletion record containing your email, phone number, name, signup date, deletion date, deletion reason, and last activity timestamp so that banned or removed users cannot evade enforcement by deleting and re-creating an account. This record is used solely to enforce bans and is not used for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose. See the Privacy Policy §5 for details and your deletion rights.
Are my messages private?
Yes. Messages are encrypted in transit and visible only to you and the recipient. However, if an account is reported for violating our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, our moderation team may access chat messages to investigate the report and take appropriate action.
How do I report inappropriate behavior?
You can report profiles, messages (including photos, videos, and voice messages), events, and stories. To report a profile: open it, tap the three-dot menu, and select "Report User." To report a message: press and hold it and tap "Report," then choose a reason. To report an event: tap the report flag on the event. To report a story: tap the flag icon at the top right. Choose a reason, add any details, and submit. Our team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action.
Can I appeal a ban or suspension?
Yes. Banned or suspended users can submit an appeal directly in the app. Follow the on-screen instructions on the appeal screen, explain why you believe the action was made in error, and our team will review it.
Can I control who sees my Stories?
Yes. Go to Settings > Story Privacy to hide your story from specific users. You can also control who can reply to your stories from the same screen.
What happens when I block someone?
Blocked users can't see your profile, send you messages, or view your activity. They won't be notified that you blocked them. You can manage blocked users in Settings > Blocked Users.
Can I hide my profile temporarily?
Yes. Turn off "Show in Discovery" in Settings > Location. Your profile immediately becomes invisible to other users in the Discovery List, Discovery Grid, and search. Turn it back on whenever you want to be seen again.
How is my location data used?
Your location is only used to show you nearby users and help others discover you within their range. We never sell location data and never store historical location trails. Only your most recent location is kept, rounded to roughly 100 meters of precision, and it is retained until you delete your account.
What are community guidelines?
Our community guidelines prohibit harassment, hate speech, explicit content, impersonation, and spam. View full guidelines here. Violations can result in temporary suspension or permanent ban.
What is Show in Discovery?
Show in Discovery controls whether your profile appears in the Discovery List, Discovery Grid, and search results. When on, you are visible in Discovery; when off, you are hidden from the Discovery List, Discovery Grid, and search. You can toggle it anytime in Settings → Location → Show in Discovery.
