Guidance on making, editing, and cancelling events.
How do I create an event?
On the Discover page, tap the 'Create Event' button. Add event details like title, description, date/time, location, and category. Choose between public (anyone nearby) or private (invite only).
Can I report an event?
Yes. If an event violates our Community Guidelines, tap the report flag on the event page to report it. Our team reviews all event reports and takes appropriate action.
Can I edit or cancel an event?
Yes, event creators can edit details or cancel events at any time from the event page. To edit your event, click on it and select the edit event icon. To delete it, tap the icon to its right.
How do private events work?
Private events are only visible to you and the friends you specifically invite. They will only appear in the Discover feed for users you invited.
How far in advance can I create events?
You can create events up to 3 months in advance. Past events are automatically deleted after they have ended.
What types of events can I create?
You can create any type of event: social, sports, music, food & drink, networking, education, tech, gaming, fitness, outdoor, professional, and more. Choose from our list of 18 categories — if none fits perfectly, pick "Other."
Can I invite specific people to an event?
Yes! When creating a private event, you can select specific connections to invite. They'll receive a notification and can choose to attend.
How do I find events near me?
On the Discover page, scroll down to the Events section to see all public events within your discovery range. Filter by distance to find local events.
Can I set a maximum attendee limit?
Yes! When creating an event, you can set a maximum capacity to inform users about the event size.
What is an event chat?
Every event on Neer comes with its own group chat for the people going. Join the event and you are in the chat, where you can ask questions, sort out plans, meet the other attendees before you show up, and keep talking while the event is happening. It is the easiest way to walk into an event already knowing a few people. The chat closes once the event is over.
How does anonymous event chat work?
You can join an event chat anonymously if you want to check things out before revealing who you are. Your whole profile is hidden from the other people in the chat, and they cannot open your profile. One thing to know: you are anonymous to other users, not to Neer. We still know who you are behind the scenes, so anyone who misbehaves can still be reported and banned.
If I am anonymous in an event chat, can I still be reported or banned?
Yes. Being anonymous hides you from other users, not from us, so reports go against your real account. Harassment, threats, spam, or explicit content in an anonymous chat gets the same treatment as anywhere else on Neer, up to a permanent ban.
